This is a practical two year course, specifically designed to allow those with an interest in fashion and design to develop their own individual fashion design identity as well as developing the technical skills of fashion design, including pattern cutting and garment construction, while exploring the cultural and commercial context of fashion. The course provides an exciting opportunity for adult learners with its emphasis on customizing and designing accessories. Students will also learn the practical skills needed to create a collection. In Year 2 of the course the students’ organize a Fashion Show & Accessories Exhibition, showcasing the clothes and accessories which they have designed and created. Students can also attend ‘Start your own Enterprise’ Workshops run in conjunction with the Waterford Enterprise Board

This is an ideal course for graduates who wish to learn a variety of craft skills with a view to setting up a small craft / fashion business. It would also suit graduates who wish to work in retail or a fashion related business.
